Happy February.
It is mantel time.
I look forward to changing it up every month.
My mantel was especially fun this year.
I was so ready for the reds and the pinks.
It's been a wee bit gloomy here
in the Pacific Northwest,
so any color is welcome.
Here we go-
Left side;
The large glittered hearts hanging above,
were from the dollar store.
The package came with 4 different sizes.
It was a great deal.
My newly thrifted Owl.
Isn't she adorable, and lovable?
She fits right in with the valentines fun.
I put some yarn pom-poms in my dessert stand.
for texture and whimsy.
I used my some of my 60's sugar dishes and
mini books for some height.
Notice my Vintage Valentines Stitchery?
Here is a close-up.
Check out this post if you want to stitch one
up of your own.
For the right side;
I kept my large white owl up.
He goes with any season.
I added a few more books and some
tea items; 60's creamer and 70's red
floral tea pot. I think they look great.
Below are a few close ups.
This was a thrifted metal candelabra,
I spray painted in Krylon Black gloss.
I just sat the little red dollar store votives
on top, instead of using huge pillar candles.
I love it. The red and pink striped plate
tucked behind the candelabra was
from Target. They have some Val themed
plastic dishware that is really cute.
This gal is a little 50's plastic figurine, I thrifted.
She always makes her way out in Feb.
She is sending her love.
For the mantel "garland", I went with granny chic;
doilies, and vintage pot-holder.
The large glittered hearts
are from the dollar store.
(try to ignore my arm in this pic, it is hard
to photograph my mantel, because of the mirror).
Here are a few close-ups
You can find
the pattern here for the red doilie.
I whipped her up in just a few minutes.
I used regular red, sport weight yarn.
This is a yarn flower brooch I made
on my vintage flower loom.
I love tucking them into different spots.
Well that is my Feb Mantel.
Hope you gleaned some ideas for
your own decor.
Happy February,
it's only a few days away...
Tootles.
decor I put up last year.
Oh my goodness ... this month's mantle is so adorable. I love the bunting with the doilies, the cute owls, the pom-poms. And your embroidered valentine is so sweet. I love how you decorate for each month. So pretty.
